Guys/Gals

I live in southern Michigan and we recently had a bad winter storm. We had about three days of straight rain and then one day of freezing rain. There was alot of trees falling down due to the heavy weight of the ice. We had about 12,000 people without power for four days.

Anyways, I live in an area of dense river bottow, lots of mud, water, fallen trees ect. The river over flowed 6' and everything was under water. A tree fell down and knocked over a major power line supplying about 1,200 customers. On the fourth day of no power, the power company came out to inspect the situation. What they found was a mess that they could not fix. The boss came to my house asking to borrow a canoe or boat. He said that he was going to have his men try and cross the river and float back to the down wire approx. 1/2 mile from the road surface. The base of the pole was 6' under water and there was two trees lying across the live wire. I inspected the site and told him that he was crazy if he wanted someone to try and cross that river in a canoe. He then told me that there would have to be 700' of new cable run to the pole.

I then offered my Argo Vanguard for his services. The foreman had never seen a 6x6 and asked me, "Can that thing float?" I told him yes and advised him that I had crossed the river several hundred times in similar conditions. He begged his guys and finaly one guy said, "I guess I'll go I'm insured." I then tied the cable to the hitch of the Argo, put a chain saw, gas can, and power worker in the back, and went across the river. I had a bit of a hard time going upstream at first but once I got out of the current I was all set. I plowed through the water and thin ice stringing up 700' of fresh cable. I helped the power guy cut the trees and he then spliced the broken wire. The power company was overjoyed and told me that I saved the day. I was just happy to have heat.

Guys,

Pete 6x6 I sold my Attex to a retired duck hunter near my home. I got married in August...you know how that goes.

Argogeru I would like to ride hit me with an email. jkemp22@hotmail.com

Matt I can't make the April mud run because my brother is getting married. I will be at the jamberee though so I will see you there. I am also thinking about one of those Badlands rides so send me the dates so I can make plans. I seen those tracks that you made they look cool. I got the tru traxx for my Argo but have not had any snow to use them on. Hope to go to the upper portion of Michigan soon to try them out.

Roadwolf I know what your talking about. My 6x6 had a flat tire and I had no power to run my air compressor. I had to use a foot pump but needless to say I "Slimed" my tires so they will not leak.

Max You did nothing to offend me. Last I heard you were going to Washington to work. I didn't realize you were in town give me bump and we can ride. Lots of mud in the flats right now should be some good riding. Garnet and I are planning on hitting the flats Saturday. Come over and check out my new tracks.

I live in Upper Michigan and own a Attex Superchief and three coots. I am planning a coot ride for this spring, when things are good and muddy. Sixers are welcome too. If your interested let me know. Dates are wide open at this time, but would likely be in April. I am in Ironwood Mich. That is as far west in the U.P as you can be, and still be in Michigan. So perhaps we could also get riders from Wis and Minn too.

Let me know if there is interest

i plan on attending this years jamboree and welcome all other coot owners to join me.it would be great to see a few more there.
im a little too far to attend your coot run but i will pass along the message to other owners.post the dates when you have them.

Troy, do you live in Ironwood now? If so, lets get together and plan the ride. Let me know. Right now I am still trying to decide where we would ride. As you know, we have a ton of places that we can ride, I would like to find some rides that are both challenging and take us to some cool spots. I was thinking going north, out to Lake Superior, and also, east, out toward Great Lakes road. follow the snowmobile trails once they are melted. That way we have nicly marked trails but still some real tough going in places. I have a few trappers with six wheelers lined up to help. They tell me they can take us places that will for sure get a few machines stuck. This will be a great chance to challange a coot, Max and Argo to see just which machine has the upper hand. Let me know what you think. Bruce

Bruce, Troy

How far is Ironwood from Paradise. I live about as far south from you guys as humanly possible and still be in Mich (about 15 miles from Ohio). My in-laws have property in Paradise I could go up there and stay the weekend. Let me know when your rides are I might get with ya.
