Hello,

I have recently purchased a 92 model Max IV. Most of the tires are in pretty good shape with about 1/2 the tread left, but two are pretty dry rotten. I am thinging about getting some new tires. What type of tires are you running on you Max IV's. I have the 26x12x12 tires. I think they are Goodyear super terra's. AND most importantly where is a good source to purchase some new tires?

Thanks for you help! Paul Leonard

After looking around abit, I have a few more questions. What ply rating is best for these tires? a 2ply or a 4 ply? I know that a 4 ply would be a tougher tire and resist punctures more than a 2ply, but the ride might suffer. What ply tire comes on a new MAX IV now? Can any of you with a newer MAX tell me?

If I only can afford 2 new tires, where is the best place to put the new tires, front or rear? I am assuming that it would be best to have your best tires on either the front or rear. Am I right? Thanks in advance for any advice. Paul

Paul have you asked Richard yet? He has every part imaginable for a 6x6 and 8x8. :-) I'd say the Rawhide III's would be the best bet for tires on your MaxIV. I would love to put a larger tire on my Conquest but it can't go any larger. I can go wider though and am planning on a set of Super Swamper TSL /ATV tires made by Interco. Take a look at them they may work for you.

On the website they indicate that they reduced lateral traction of the tire. If Interco recommends them to be used on a skid steer I'm don't know but there are a few board members here who have used them successfully.

After doing a lot of looking around I decided to go with a TITAN 589 AT. Its a 3* rated tire, which is about a 4ply. It has a similar tread pattern to a Goodyear Super Terra Grip, but it has a little deeper tread, which I am hoping will provide a little better traction in mud and speed in the water. Check them out at here http://titantires.com/titan_589.htm. I'll let you know how they do on the MAX IV.

Paul
PS. If anyone is running these tires drop me a line.

Can someone post the prices of some of the tires mentioned?

The price of the Titan 589 tires were about 80.00 each, time you add in the shipping. Plus mounting fees of about 6-7 dollars each. Type in either of these tires in a search engine, and you will find a bunch of places that sell them online.

THE ITP BLACKWATER TIRE IS THE ONE THAT SPECIFIC MENTION "BUILT IN TIRE BEAD - RIM PROTECTION" AND THAT REALLY MATTER ON THE TIRE/RIM SEPARATION OR SLOW LEAK DUE TO DIRT "SQUEEZE" BETWEEN TIRE/RIM.....4 PLY RATING...AFTER SEVERAL MANGROOVE AREA TOURS MY ITP BLACKWATER TIRES REMAIN WITH AIR.............MAKES HARD BOUNCING ON DRY HARD PACKET SOIL BUT RETURN SAFELY!!!

The Titans will be fine in mud but won't be much of anything in water. I don't see why you would ever want to spend almost $80 per tire and down grade from what you had. Go with at least the new Gator tires which are a lot more aggressive and will give good water speed. You can't lose with the stock 26" tires either. No other tire gives better water speed.

Brandon,

Do you know anyone who is running the titans, or have you talked to them? I'd like to talk to someone who is running them. What about the Gators? Do you know anyone who is running them? Same story? The tread on the titan is actually more aggressive than the stock 26" Goodyear Super Terra Grip. (Which by the way are not being made in a 26-12-12 anymore, according to Goodyear. I was told any that I found were old stock!) The tread on the Titan is also a slightly modified Ag-tire design (similar to a tractor tire).

If you know anyone running either I would like to drop them an email.

Thanks,
Paul
