I have an Argo Bigfoot and want to make a roll bar that will clear a factory soft top when I buy one in the future. The question is how high do I have to come up off the upper and lower body seam to clear?

The brochure says that the height of the ARGO with the soft top is 66 inches or 168 cm. I also checked the base height of an ARGO bigfoot without any top and it is 37 inches from the ground to the height of the hood top. SO 66 - 37 = 29 inches SO 29 inches is the height of the top. The only other factor is that the 37 inches is to the level of the hood. WHere the roll bar would mount ( depending on the type of bar, it would mount just outside the seatback so that same area, where the gas nozzle is. Thats probably a few inches less than the hood (it actually is, but I don't know how much but If i had to guess its probably around 8 inches lower at most. YOu do the math- I have had enough math today (just wrote a rediculously long math exam today.) so if you are using the factory roll bar that is now available (the conquest roll bar) than the top won't work. I don't know the height without the lights on the roll bar but I doubt it would work. Your own rollbar would have to either be high enough to allow the top to go just underneath and also, the roll bar goes straight up the sides. YOu can't bend the bar to be more round as the frame for the top would be in the way. The roll bar would have to be wide enough to mount on the body of the machine, and also be as farout as possible to be able to clear the top. It would take some planning but could easily be done. Good Luck and I hope this helps.

if your going to make a roll bar, why not just make the top too.that way you can make it fit to your cage, and save yourself a couple of bucks in the process.

Thanks David for the information. I will be making it straight off of the body seam. Will a roll bar make it top heavy in the water? Wetsu Have you mad your own top and if so how much did it cost and do you have pictures?

it won't be top heavy in water at all unless you are hanging stuff of it. I have never had a problem with the roll bar and uneven weight distribution.

amphibiousatv,
Check out photo gallery on this site. Number 30 is my bigfoot with rollbar. I got it from Ron Sweet. He can be reached through this site. He makes and sells them. The factory windshield and tops work with them. Sending this message from Southwest Florida. I'm on vacation.

amphib, the total cost was about,$6.00.that was for snaps and a snapsetter.you see i found an old tanue cover from a small size truck,on the side of the highway.(that guy is probably pretty unhappy),but depending on the matterial you are going to use will determine the cost.if you want heavy vinyl, you could get that from an apolstery shop.canvas you could hit the yard sales and maybe find an old tent,or just go buy a new tarp.or for about $3.88 you could go to wal-mart and get a poly tarp.
if you go to my website i do have 1 pic showing the top down. i made it convertable, roll it up from the back and tie it down in front/top.go to www.geocities.com/wetsu102/night_vision.html,and check it out.

Rick how did you get the roll bar shipped to you and how much did you pay for it? Does it effect water travel? I emailed Ron and am witing for his reply

amphibiousatv,In water it seems the same to me. I think it was $450 or $475 maybe he told me,But he gave me a better deal than that because my best freind got one from him at the same time.Him and Matt435 brought the roll bars to a badlands ride,And he helped us put them on .We got there and unloaded in front of his truck and went to work.We had both roll bars installed in a hour, and it was one of the best mod-add ons i feel i've added.Ron is cool i like him.Shipping ? good luck,Rick
