I think this is all too the good. Have a cell phone naturally, though reception can get spotty depending on area. Always carry two high tech hiking poles, though that only helps if you can at least limp along. Didn't think about the "shelter" business. Ithink I like the idea of leaving a schedule with somebody neutral. Oftentimes I have to ride into several up and down very steep ridges where an accident would leave you virtualy unfindable.
