I'm sure it would work but I'll avoid the trouble of removing tires and go with ramps over the wheelwells. I have a newer Ford F150 and the bed if fairly deep compared to most other pickups. I did a quick test with some scrap wood and a 2x10 on edge clears the wheelwells. So even on top of the ramps, the side of the beds are still high enough to keep it secure. I also already have a "headache rack" in my back window, that should prevent any accident. I'm picking up my new Frontier on Saturday, I'll show you guys the set up I have in mind when I'm done.
